Subject matter is always varied by design. I find composition everywhere I go and everywhere I look, because...

"Art is all around us."

Looking Up

A bright angle is offered, looking up through Autumnal leaves as they dance their last moments in the bright blue sunny sky. The tree is withered and moss covered showing its age and resilience against time.

St. Joe Bridge Isle

A well trodden St. Joseph Island bridge view provided this beautiful tiny island as a subject just as a boat off to the right goes past under the bridge. The water is churned with subtle waves gently crashing upon the rocky outcrop; its small clusters of trees standing tall like centurions of the bridge.

Bay Buddies

On a dim morning, a few of the local boats at the Sault Ste. Marie Belleview Park Marina, sit together quietly without a hint of wind disturbing their gathering. The sleeping Canadian flag in the background will soon flutter again as the sun rises and the day begins.

Stagnant Flow

A dry spell provided a rocky, shallow Hiawatha river walk. Stepping up, the view presented a soft blue lumbering flow to enjoy as the stones, shoreline pebbles and driftwood came into clear view.

Mirrored Morning

One of my favourite places at Hiawatha Park, gives us a glass topped morning inland lake as the subject. Full shorelines of deciduous and coniferous trees cradle large boulders and sandy shores, as they tower above the mirror like surface with their beautiful reflections showing smooth upon the calming waters.

Farmer Lake

After a 5 km hike with a local wellness group, we took a break at the end of our adventure and sat to have lunch. This view and peaceful backwoods lake is your reward for a diligent hike. Farmer Lake is a refuge for wildlife and human admirers, with its small, but elegant presence among the Hiawatha conservation forests.

Pile Up

This natural still life came after lying down and closely observing river stones. Walking on them daily, one may never realize the colours and shapes that detail each one. With their pastel palette, they huddle together and provide a whimsical composition.

Blueberry Spill

With their vibrant colour somewhere between cobalt blue and purple, the blueberry becomes an endearing still life as they spill from a bright orange bowl. The addition of the graphic yellow background and simple white countertop gives the berries center stage.

Mother Echinacea

The cone flower, or echinacea is an iconic garden flower that not only looks beautiful, but it is well known for its healing properties.
This piece was the first drawing (hence the title Mother), within my debut collection with its bright colours giving way to its thick base of sturdy foliage.

Suzie Field

The brown eyed Susan is an iconic field flower in our area and its dark center nestled within its golden petals mixes beautifully with its sister cone flower in this thick bed of flowers found at the Sault Ste. Marie Belleview Park summer gardens. She poses for the camera as her fellow 'Suzies', fill the scene, tapering off in the distance showing off their prolific blooming cycle.
