'Race For The Clouds' was a 2025 commission piece honoring the Lancaster Bomber Crews of WWII. The owner has a very personal connection to this piece and it was an honor to create it with him.
It depicts the dangerous nighttime air missions led during the war and the chaotic turmoil that occurred over and over as allied troops attempted to defend from the skies through darkness, enemy planes, and treacherous battle flak.
Often flying at night, cloud cover was a useful, but precarious navigation tool. Known to military pilots and crew, the presence of the moon was always a detriment and so as the mission was completed, cloud cover was a beneficial element to attempt to save the lives of those within the bomber planes. Many did not return home.
As a new associate member of our local Veterans Legion, I truly appreciated the emotional journey that this piece provided.
May we never forget our current and past military veterans for their service to us all.
Korean War Memorial Mural 2026 - Legion Branch 25
In honor of our Canadian Korean War Veterans, a commissioned mural was completed in the summer of 2026 within our Legion Branch 25 building lobby. While my part in painting the mural was complete, the other important element of the names of our local service members who participated in the campaign were then added alongside this memorial image. They were applied under the drifting poppies.
As well, under the drifting, Korean national flower (pink rose of Sharon), the team added a plaque to commemorate the mural meaning itself and the story of its inspiration as a collaborative and timeless memorial to those who served with such dignity and valor from our Canadian shores.
We will remember now and always.
This piece was an honor to work on with our local Legion team and inspirational family who brought the concept to them.
Although I work in pencil, this mural challenge was an interior acrylic piece with a final satin finish for longevity.

Above the primed and penciled in details were completed prior to paint application, viewed from Legion lobby. A large grid method was used to base in the mural elements.
A small scaled image was initially created from many discussions and input from the team. Draped in poppies and Rose of Sharon flowers, the mural was ready for paint. Each drifting flower or petal represents a service member.
I would like to thank everyone for their kindness in having me join the team to make this memorial happen for all to have for years to come.
